# Urological dysfunction in young women: an inheritance of childhood?  ### Abstract In real-world clinical practice, children with LUTS are lost to follow-up by their paediatricians when they become adults. Conversely, urologists are often faced with adults giving a history of lower urinary tract dysfunction during childhood. The correlation between childhood and adulthood LUTS is one of the most intriguing and challenging topics in urology. A limited number of previous studies have supported the role of childhood lower urinary tract dysfunction as predictors of adult symptomatology \[1 – 10\]. In particular, enuresis and the symptom complexes of dysfunctional voiding and elimination syndrome have been shown to increase the likelihood of incontine nce and overactive bladder (OAB) in adulthood.
